Clam Chowder

This is my dad's recipe. So many great memories of dad chopping, dicing and sizzling in our kitchen back in the Soo. Miss you dad.

Ingredients

  • 5 med potatoes diced
  • 1 large carrot chopped
  • 3 med onions chopped
  • 1 lb bacon chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 4 c milk
  • 2 cans baby clams – reserve juice
  • salt & pepper

Instructions

  • Boil potatoes and carrots until tender.
  • Fry onion with bacon, drain.
  • In large pot, melt butter, add flour, bring to a boil and cook until golden.
  • Slowly whisk in milk.
  • Add potatoes/carrots, bacon/onion and clams and juice.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
