Clam Chowder

This is my dad’s recipe. So many great memories of dad chopping, dicing and sizzling in our kitchen back in the Soo. Miss you dad.


  • 5 med potatoes (diced)
  • 1 large carrot (chopped)
  • 3 med onions (chopped)
  • 1 lb bacon (chopped)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp flour
  • 4 c milk
  • 2 cans baby clams (- reserve juice)
  • salt & pepper


  1. Boil potatoes and carrots until tender.
  2. Fry onion with bacon, drain.
  3. In large pot, melt butter, add flour, bring to a boil and cook until golden.
  4. Slowly whisk in milk.
  5. Add potatoes/carrots, bacon/onion and clams and juice.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
