Easy delicious scones!

Ingredients

  • 1 c sour cream
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 4 c flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c butter
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 c raisins ((optional))

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Grease baking sheet
  3. In small bowl, blend the sour cream and baking soda; set aside.
  4. In large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt.
  5. Cut butter into flour mixture.
  6. Sir the sour cream mixture and egg into flour mixture, until just moistened.
  7. Mix in raisins, if using.
  8. Turn dough onto lightly floured counter and knead briefly.
  9. Roll or pat dough into 3/4″ thickness.
  10. Cut with a 3″ cookie cutter or glass to make circular scones and place 2″ apart on baking sheet.
  11. Bake 15-18 minutes until golden brown on the bottom.
