BBQ Back Ribs

Fall off the bone ribs with homemade Dry Rub rand BBQ Sauce recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 rack pork back ribs
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • ½ c dry rub
  • ½ c bbq sauce

Dry Rub

  • ½ c brown sugar
  • 4 tsp chili powder
  • 4 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

BBQ Sauce

  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • 1 c onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 c cider vinegar
  • 1 c water
  • 1 c ketchup
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp molasses
  • 4 tbsp spicy mustard
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tsp chili powder

Instructions

  1. Combine dry rub ingredients and set aside.
  2. Sauté onion and garlic over medium-high heat for 2 minutes.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook uncovered for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Ribs

  1. Preheat oven to 300F
  2. Remove excess fat from ribs: with a sharp knife lift and grab the silver skin with a paper towel and pull.
  3. Cut ribs into individual pieces and check for end bone splinters
  4. Rub ribs all over with lemon juice.
  5. Coat ribs with dry rub. Place meat side down in large baking pan and cover tightly with foil, shiny side out.
  6. Bake in oven for 2 ½ hours.
  7. Remove from oven and pour off liquid.
  8. Coat ribs with bbq sauce.
  9. Grill: Place ribs on grill, basting and turning for about 10 minutes.

    Oven: Set oven to broil and return ribs to oven, and baste and broil about 5 minutes per side, watching carefully so as not to burn.
