BBQ Back Ribs

Fall off the bone ribs with homemade Dry Rub rand BBQ Sauce recipes

Equipment

  • Disposable foil pan or foil lined pan mean no fuss clean up.

Ingredients

  • 1 rack pork back ribs
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • ½ c dry rub
  • ½ c bbq sauce

Dry Rub

  • ½ c brown sugar
  • 4 tsp chili powder
  • 4 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

BBQ Sauce

  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • 1 c onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 c cider vinegar
  • 1 c water
  • 1 c ketchup
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp molasses
  • 4 tbsp spicy mustard
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tsp chili powder

Instructions

Dry Rub

  • Combine ingredients.

BBQ Sauce

  • Sauté onion and garlic over medium-high heat for 2 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook uncovered for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sauce will thicken as it cools.

Ribs

  • Preheat oven to 300F
  • Remove excess fat from ribs: with a sharp knife lift and grab the silver skin with a paper towel and pull.
  • Cut ribs into individual pieces and check for end bone splinters
  • Rub ribs all over with lemon juice.
  • Coat ribs with dry rub. Place meat side down in large baking pan and cover tightly with foil, shiny side out.
  • Bake in oven for 2 ½ hours.
  • Remove from oven and pour off liquid.
  • Coat ribs with bbq sauce.
  • Grill: Place ribs on grill, basting and turning for about 10 minutes.
    Oven: Set oven to broil and return ribs to oven, and baste and broil about 5 minutes per side, watching carefully so as not to burn.
